The week(s) before Christmas (it’s all a blur now) my neighbor Katie and I made a quilt for her Grandma in the BEST.FABRIC.EVER. Katie may not have sewn anything since Home Ec, but she certainly has an eye for pretty fabric and quickly decided on Terrain. She wanted a place to add the four grandkids’ names, so I showed her some photos of strip quilts and we decided to do that plus add a 6″ border. I quickly sketched it out and did some quilt math and a few days later we got started! She did really well and she tried not to look at me funny while I was painters-taping everything to the floor! I ended up binding it because our deadline was looming, but she did the rest and we finished in time for Christmas! Thank goodness for the walking foot, half-speed control and the 1/4″ piecing foot!
I told Katie about the “quilt shot” where you only see feet, so she wore matching purple socks! We had a tiny break in the dreary, cloudy morning so we could take some pictures.
I want to make more with Terrain now! I do have 2 charm square packs and purple minky for Sam, but using all purple is even better!
We backed it with the prettiest print.
We were completely out of time so I had to machine sew the binding. I usually hand sew the back side but this time I used the stitch in the ditch sole on my walking foot. I think it turned out pretty good!
The colors are so amazing. She told me her grandma just loved it!

Mmmmmmm! I’m loving that purple! :-)
I love Terrain! I made my daughter a quilt for Christmas from this fabric and we both love it.
Great “walking quilt” photo with the matching socks:) Kudos to Katie and you on a beautiful quilt!
Thank you!
